The Latest from Picnic

Over the past few months we’ve been busy at Picnic. We've introduced Roundtable. Happening on the last Wednesday of each month, Roundtable is a photographic peer review evening for anyone to share their photographs and explore new photographic ideas and narratives. The nights are hosted by Picnic director Joe Charrington who each month invites an industry established guest speaker to come and kick the night off with a short informal discussion about their work before the peer-review.

We’ve also been hard at work drumming up a new education program that brings together world class artists, local partners and young people. This project aims to foster inspiration within local young people who have experienced a disadvantage in their access to photography and more broadly the arts in general. This collaborative project will see the participants work with industry established photographers and upcoming curators to produce an innovative series of works which will be exhibited. We have a bid in with the Arts Council to support this project, so fingers crossed!

In April we also have an arts club with focus on photography starting up called Kids Picnic, being run for 5-8yr olds in St Leonards, East Sussex where the arts continue to suffer.
