The latest from Picnic

Towards the end of this year Picnic has been busy with a good handful of events, from intimate films screenings to photography fairs we've had the pleasure of having many of you through the doors and into the library!

In early October Alys Tomlinson brought her new film MOTHER VERA to picnic which she directed along with collaborator Cecile Embleton. Shot in breathtaking black and white, Mother Vera is a visually arresting and deeply meditative portrait of a woman confronting the shadows of her past. Vera has spent 20 years in a convent on the outskirts of Minsk, living among men undergoing addiction rehabilitation. What a night that was!

Following that, photographer Jorge Stride took over one of picnic's large walls with an eclectic mix of photographs taken over years spent photographing both the domestic environment and on trips around town. His work "Non-Specific" is both genre-bending and one entirely of its own. This will be up into the new year so pop in and take a look! This installation was to mark the beginning of Picnic's winter fundraiser photobook and print fair with a photographic raffle to boot, and a family friendly kids collage table from Alma Haser!!

Picnic will be back in the new year with a new window show and many more roundtable peer reviews, keep your eyes peeled on the instagram and lookout for the newsletter to stay updated..
